I am passionate about drawing, painting and the visual arts and have been working professionally as an artist and lecturer in art schools for the last twenty-five years. During this period I have exhibited widely both in this country and abroad and have written several successful books on drawing that have been published internationally.

I have taught at many different levels in further and higher education within art and design specializing in drawing and painting. Up until 1998, I worked at Chelsea College of Art and the City Literary Institute where I designed and implemented a program of highly successful courses for students of varying abilities, experience and backgrounds.

I believe in pro-actively teaching the skills of drawing and painting using traditional and experimental techniques. The outcome of learning these skills gives the student the confidence and capability to develop, explore and discover their own creative potential and artistic direction.

After leaving the Royal College of Art, Painting School in 1982 I worked at the Studio International in Paris before having a studio in London and Yorkshire. Recently I have had a very successful one-man show at the RAC galleries in Pall Mall, London. My books on drawing include A Foundation Course in Drawing (pub. Watson-Guptill, 2003), The Complete Book of Drawing Techniques (pub. Foulsham, 2003) and Anatomy for Artists (pub. Barnes & Noble, 2002).
