Deborah Bird M.A. graduated from De Montfort University in 2005, she has a B.A Hons Degree in Graphic Design (Bath Academy of Art 1992) and a Masters Degree in Fine Art.

Previous exhibitions include painting, photography and installation work at Derby City Gallery and La Viande Gallery, Hoxton, London and Bromham Mill, Bedfordshire.

Deborah's new body of abstract work uses collage together with oil and water based mediums to explore her relationship with nature. During my walks in the country I am using what I experience with rhythm's and layers of existence and bringing it back to the studio. Deborah uses the physical act of painting itself to explore the inner self and notions of her daily walks.

Large paintings begin with small preparatory studies and gestural mark making; these are also presented as works in their own right.

Deborah acts as a consultant for City & Guilds and was responsible for developing the Artist in Residence qualification in 2005, she is also the course tutor at ArtyBird for the online qualification.

She has completed a number of residencies in and around Leicester.
