Animator Ceiren Bell was asked by Greenwich and Lewisham Young People's Theatre to create a short stop motion animation on the subject of the environment with Year 8 students at Wexham School, Slough. She only had two 4-hour sessions in which to fit in the long process of deciding the concept, making the artwork and doing the filming.

The first session was spent introducing the students to the notion of stop motion animation and getting them to decide what form the film would take. They spent the next week making their movable artwork before Ceiren returned for the second session, where they filmed the animation frame by frame on a basic digital camera and tripod. The artist then imported these images sequentially into Flash (an animation software), added a soundtrack and some title pages and voila! -- a 2-minute stop motion film, made by the students themselves in only 8 hours (plus computer time)! A great success.
